Position Risk Calculator for Shares, Forex & Futures
Choose a currency and market type, set a risk percentage or exact risk amount, then use guided forex-pair or futures-contract starter presets. No live data or trade signals are used.
Calculate a manual position-risk limit
Choose your market type. Shares and ETFs use a manual ticker field; forex uses a pair dropdown; futures uses standard, E-mini, and Micro starter presets. You still confirm all prices, contract specifications, and conversion factors yourself.
Use either risk percentage or exact risk amount
The two risk fields are linked. Enter a percentage of the account and the tool calculates the matching amount. Or enter an exact money amount and it recalculates the percentage. This makes the chosen money-at-risk limit visible before it divides by the stop distance.
Guided instrument menus
- Shares or ETFs: type any ticker manually. A full dropdown would be misleading because symbols, exchanges, share classes, and listings vary widely.
- Forex: select a common pair from the dropdown or enter another pair. The selected standard-lot example supplies a 100,000-unit lot size, but you must enter the correct current quote-currency to account-currency factor.
- Futures: the dropdown includes a small set of standard, E-mini, and Micro starter presets. It fills the published unit multiplier for that named preset. Exchanges and brokers can change specifications, symbols, and contract terms, so verify the current details before placing an order.
What this calculator cannot know
It does not fetch prices, verify a ticker, calculate margin, or guarantee stop execution. Gaps, slippage, spreads, fees, leverage, liquidity, and execution conditions can make actual losses greater than the planned amount. Confirm contract terms with the exchange or broker before using an order.
Risk mathematics is not trade advice
A manual formula does not assess the quality of an asset, timing, diversification, or suitability for you. It is educational arithmetic, not a trading system or a recommendation to open, close, or hold a position.
Educational calculation only. This tool does not provide tax, accounting, legal, financial, investment, or trading advice. Check important decisions using current official information and, where needed, a qualified professional.
